Darold R. "Dick" Hawk

Darold R. "Dick" Hawk, age 67, of Marion passed away on Sunday, June 24, 2012, at 8:40 a.m. in the Heartland of Marion. He was born in Marion, Ohio on November 13, 1944 to the late Darold W. and Muriel D. (Harriman) Hawk. Dick graduated in 1963 from Ridgedale High School and went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force from 1965-1969. He is a member of Moose Lodge 889, V.F.W. post 7201, and Am. Legion Post 584. Dick enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting, car shows, hot rods, & riding his motorcycle. For 17 years, before his retirement, he was District Supervisor for the Ohio State Division of Agriculture, Division of Meat Inspection. Being the lifelong hard worker he was, Dick had his own feeder pig operation and owned the Big Island Service Station. Following his retirement from the State of Ohio, he continued to own & operate the service station as a mechanic. Surviving are his long time companion; Judy Wilson, 2 sons; Ryan R. ( girlfriend: Betsey Lyon) Hawk of LaRue, Oh. and Darin D. (Karen) Hawk of New Bloomington, Oh., and a granddaughter; Carley Hawk who always enjoyed the question; " Whats your new word today" when ever Dick saw her. He developed a very close friendship with Gary Weaver, Jim "Bo" Van Gorden, & Al Winkle. Freinds may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 27, 2012, from 4-7 p.m. Pastor Gene Parker will conduct his funeral service in the funeral home on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. with burial to follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Marion Co. Veterans Council.
