Dalila Montero, age 87, of Marion passed away on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at 1:38 p.m. in the Marion Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Jayuya, Puerto Rico on September 30, 1924 to Manuel and Damiana (Colon) Rodriguez. Dalila married Jose Antonio Montero in Ponce, Puerto Rico on May 6, 1944 and he preceded her in death on August 30, 1988 in Marion. From this union came 2 sons; Jose Antonio Montero Jr. of Marion & Nelson (Angie) Montero of West Palm Beach, Fla., 2 daughters; Irene Montero of Marion & Ivette Appese of Staten Island, N.Y., 15 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 6 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 1 son; Albert Montero, 1 brother, and 4 sisters. Dalila was a homemaker and of the Catholic faith. A graveside service will be held in the Marion Cemetery on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. Pastor Marcellus de Oliveira will officiate. Friends may call at the Boyd-Born Funeral Home today from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. The Montero Family would like to extend a very heart-felt thanks to the staff at the Marion Manor Nursing Home for their wonderful care.
