Verna Wright Wagner, age 90 of Marion, passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at Marion General Hospital, surrounded by family and friends. Verna was born on November 6, 1933 to the late Vernon and Helen (Yoak) Williams in Columbus, Ohio. On December 26, 1951, she married the late Harold Eugene Wright in Richmond, Indiana. During their 49 years of marriage, they raised three children: Teresa, Jeanette, and Curtis. After her husband, Harold, passed away in 2001, she married the late Thomas Wagner in 2005.
Verna was employed for Jack Bull and Associates in Marion for over 30 years, and then for Mike Zucker at Zucker Insurance Agency until she retired in 2010.
Verna was a long-time member of the Grand Prairie Baptist Church where she played the organ and enjoyed serving in numerous roles within the church. She loved God, family, church, music, and shopping on Amazon.
Verna was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Harold E. “Gene” Wright and her second husband, Thomas Edwin Wagner; her stepson: Allen Wagner; her brothers Ronald Williams and Larry Sheldon; nephew Ronald Sheldon, and granddaughter Jennifer Bortshellar. Those who will cherish her memories include her children Teresa (Kenneth) Seaman of Pickerington, Ohio; Jeanette (Doc) Settles of Marion, Ohio; and Curtis (Barb) Wright of Bucyrus, Ohio; her sister, Glada Snyder of Marion, Ohio; her stepsons Dale (Kelly) Wagner of Marion, Ohio; and Charles (Ruth) Wagner of Findlay, Ohio; her stepdaughter-in-law Jackie Wagner of Marion, Ohio; special friends Barry and Kathleen Warren of Marion, Ohio; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Friends and family may call to honor her life from 4pm to 7pm on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at Boyd Funeral Home, 122 W. Columbia St., Marion, Ohio. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024 starting at 12pm at Grand Prairie Baptist Church, 4893 Marion-Upper Sandusky Road in Marion, Ohio, with Reverend Ed Goodwin officiating. Visitation will be available for an hour prior to the funeral service at the church. Burial will follow the funeral service at Grand Prairie Cemetery.
